The SoftNI DigiCipher® II Subtitler is an open-architecture, software-based, viewer-oriented subtitling system that provides high-quality, highly-readable subtitles for Motorola DigiCipher® II cable/satellite transmission systems. The multi-channel, multi-language, multi-port option is able to transmit bitmap subtitles in several languages to several encoders simultaneously, using a single standard computer. This greatly reduces the cost of the system, the operational cost, hardware failures, and the need for expensive proprietary technical support. Dual redundancy is available.
VBI Subtitle Recovery Mode: The subtitles are encoded off-line into the VBI. During transmission the subtitles are recovered from the VBI, transcoded, and transmitted to the DigiCipher encoder(s). No need to interface with automation systems, file servers, playlists, or other subsystems- perfect synchronization of the subtitles is provided, with or without time code reference.
Automation System Control and Play Lists: The subtitling files, stored in a file server, are triggered by playlists created with SoftNI Playlist Editor or imported from the traffic or automation system. Subtitles are synchronized with the video via time code.
Manual Operation: The subtitling files, stored in a file server, can also be triggered manually from the Control or Subtitling Module. The subtitles are synchronized with the video via time code or using theÊcomputer clock.
The DigiCipher® II Subtitler can transmit multiple languages simultaneously to several DigiCipherÊencoders, character generators, closed caption and Teletext.
The DigiCipher® II Subtitler generates top-quality, highly-readable bitmap subtitles, compatible with Motorola's encoders, IRDs and set-top boxes. The system also can generate open subtitles, closed captions and Teletext. It uses standard commercial PCs, VBI encoders, and HDLC cards.
